A MUM is furious after British Airways kicked her and her two young sons off their return flights to the US.

Rebecca Devlin, who is from Glasgow but now lives in St Louis, Missouri, travelled to the UK on August 9 for an emotional reunion with her family after more than two years apart.

When she arrived at the US airport to begin her journey with five-month-old Noah and Jackson, two, she was told the first leg to Chicago had been cancelled.

The 28-year-old, who moved to the States in 2014, was rerouted via Dallas by American Airlines staff before landing at Heathrow and boarding a flight to Glasgow.

Despite discovering that Noah’s car seat had gone missing, the married mum of two set about trying to enjoy her time back home.

But when she contacted British Airways, who are in partnership with American Airlines, to claim for the lost seat, she was told her family had been booted off their flights home.

After repeatedly trying to get the situation rectified, Rebecca reached out to the Record for help, fearing she would be stranded in Scotland.

She said: “I can’t get a hold of anyone and every time I do, they just say they can’t help me and that it’s my own fault because I was a no-show. But I wasn’t.

They cancelled the Chicago flight and sent us via Dallas. If I was a no-show, how did I get to Scotland in the first place? “I’ve not seen my family for so long and I’ve been trying to enjoy my time with them but it’s like BA have stolen hours out of my day, every day while I’ve been trying to get this sorted.” A British Airways spokesman said: “Our team has been in contact directly and we look forward to welcoming them on board for their return flight very soon.” It is understood that the lost car seat has been recovered in Dallas. An American Airlines spokeswoman said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused to Ms Devlin. “We want to make it right, we are shipping the infant car seat to her home address and our customer relations team is assisting the customer direct.”
