WOLVES v SPURS

TOMORROW, 2PM

-

PEP GUARDIOLA has delivered a devastating blow to Harry Kane by insisting he would be “more than happy” with his squad if Manchester City can’t land the striker.

City refuse to give up on trying to prise Kane away from Tottenham and are willing to smash the British transfer record again by offering £120million for the England captain.

But if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refuses to negotiate, then Guardiola warned he is ready to move on following the £100m capture of Jack Grealish.

Of tackling the season without further signings, the Etihad boss said: “Absolutely, more than happy.

“It’s the same team except Jack is in for Sergio (Aguero).”

Even without landing Kane, Guardiola believes his team are already good enough to challenge on all fronts once again.

He said: “I don’t have any doubts because of what they have done so far for many, many years and it’s not just over one part of the season.

“The main group of people are the same, the mentality, and I know they want to do it. Football is unpredictable and anything can happen.

“But I’m more than optimistic because of what they have done and step by step they will improve.”

Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo must decide whether to pick Kane for his return to old club Wolves tomorrow.

Asked who will make the final decision over whether Kane will play at Molineux, Nuno said: “Me.”

Pressed on whether he’d have to consult with Levy, he added: “Sorry it was not the right answer – me and Harry.

“He has trained, trained well. He’ll train on Saturday and we’ll make a decision.

“Each day that he goes on to the pitch, he improves his fitness.

“Decisions are made when we feel we should and we will make the decision on who’s going to travel.”

Asked whether he felt the situation was unfair on him, Nuno said: “Honestly, it’s not unfair or fair for me, it’s the reality.

“The reality to be taken care of with wise decisions.

“The decisions we make are day by day and all of the players who are involved in training sessions are options for us.”
