Greg’s up for a scrap with new Bhoys

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

GREG TAYLOR insists Celtic’s new recruits will get a warm welcome at Parkhead – even if they are adding to the fight for places.

The full-back is relishing life under Ange Postecoglou but knows the boss will look to add in the transfer window’s last fortnight.

Right-back Josip Juranovic is on the way, with Greek forward Georgios Giakoumakis also being tracked. Taylor suspects another left-back could be on the wishlist given he’s the only one currently on the books.

But he’s heard it all before and is up for the challenge of staying in the side.

Taylor said: “It has been well documented since the first day of pre-season that there were going to be new players coming in, and that doesn’t change that. It’s the same with every club at every transfer window.

“You just have to welcome these boys in, hope they settle quickly and hope they contribute to the group.

“I just want to learn and improve with every game.

“I’m at a good club with good coaches who have helped me do that since I signed, now I’m with a new boss who’s letting me do that.

“I really enjoy the way the gaffer wants to play, whether that’s a full-back coming inside, or getting on the ball and feeding the winger.

“I’m eager to hopefully continue to improve and continue to learn. The gaffer has got his own way of playing and it’s one that we’ve all bought into. You can see that it’s coming to fruition now. We’re enjoying it.”

Postecoglou has a new right-back lined up but the desperation to fill the role has faded due to Anthony Ralston’s impressive form.

Taylor added: “I don’t think it’s fair just to single Tony out because there’s a lot of boys who have done really well since the gaffer came in. But he’s done really, really well. Tony can be delighted with himself.

“I thought on Wednesday night he was outstanding. I’m sure he’s delighted with himself but he’s a level-headed lad who’ll be looking to continue to improve also.”

Taylor was pleased with the 2-0 first leg Euro win over AZ Alkmaar but added: “It’s only 50 per cent of the tie done, so it will be big if we go and do the business next week. Our focus is on St Mirren right now.”
