Albyn School
Albyn School, founded in 1867, is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2-18. Located in the west end of Aberdeen with its sports fields at Milltimber, Albyn is both accessible and central to the city. Originally an all-girls boarding school, Albyn introduced boys in 2005 and brought back boarding in 2016 for both local and international students. Joined by the Total French School, Albyn offers a choice of both the Albyn Curriculum and the French Hybrid Curriculum.
At Albyn, class sizes are smaller, teaching is more concentrated and there is a wealth of subjects on offer that pupils can choose from with ease. Pupils gain places at top universities such as the University of Aberdeen,
The University of St Andrews, The University of Cambridge and further afield to Princeton and Yale in the Unites States.
While academic performance is important, the school promotes the significance of balance where other aspects such as activities, interests and exercise also play vital roles in the day-to-day life at Albyn. Beyond the classroom, Albyn offers a huge range of co-curricular activities including 27 musical groups and 30+ sports teams. Pupils are also heavily involved in charity and community work with a very high intake for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme
Physical and mental health of pupils is crucial, more so now than ever. Albyn has a strong pastoral team as well as a School Councillor, both who are there to support the personal development and emotional welfare of the pupils.
There is a fantastic community at Albyn made up of pupils, parents, grandparents, former pupils, staff, former pupils, governors and friends of the school. Each contributing to the life of the school through experience, engagement and collaboration which has enriched the Albyn experience for all.
