QUOTE OF THE DAY

-

‘Gerrard asks what joke book the £5m offer for Patterson came from? Maybe the same joke book that said £30m for Morelos’ hands with excitement ahead of next weekend’s opening derby clash of the season – which will be played without an away support. He said: “Already you can smell the fear wafting up the Clyde from Ibrox.

“They now realise last year was a training match trophy fluke. Rangers are running scared of playing Celtic. Their fear shows up in their laughable attempt to gain an advantage by not allowing away fans in.”

Paul McCormack, Coatbridge, said: “Interested to read the Monday Jury verdict in Record Sport on the Celtic ticket allocation for next week’s game. ‘Petty squabbling’, ‘grown up conversation’, ‘both sides’, ‘Covid padlocks coming off’, etc, etc.

“Just a wee reminder that Dave King started this in 2018, pre Covid, when he slashed the Celtic allocation. A petty response to seeing victorious Celtic fans celebrating in the away end.”

Hoops fan Kenny Wilson, Moffat, reckons Ange Postecoglou’s side are still vulnerable at the back despite their recent glut of goals.

He said: “Another six against St Mirren and some terrific football to watch from Celtic again but our defence still looks dodgy and better teams will punish them. They don’t play as a unit, look very lightweight and struggle with crosses into the box.”

Finally, there were shameful scenes on Sunday as Celtic ace Kyogo Furuhashi was subjected to racist abuse from a Gers supporters’ bus online.

David Bryce, Troon, said: “I’m absolutely disgusted by the vile racist behaviour, via social media, that was directed at Kyogo! He is a brilliant, infectious individual and a top-class footballer.

“These individuals are a disgrace and deserve no place in football.

“I am sure Kyogo will come back to haunt them next Sunday! We are all Kyogo Furuhashi.”
