You’ve Jos Croat to be looking at big picture

-

NIKICA JELAVIC reckons Celtic have pulled off a real coup by signing fellow Croat Josip Juranovic.

And the former Rangers hero insists the 26-yearold can use the switch as a springboard to the Premier League – just like he did when signing on at Everton.

Juranovic will challenge Anthony Ralston for the right-back slot under Ange Postecoglou.

Jelavic, who won the title and League Cup during his year-and-a-half in Glasgow, has credited Celtic with an astute piece of business and believes the new Bhoy will do well in Scotland... because all Croats do.

The 35-year-old, who only retired from playing in March, said: “I’m glad Josip signed for Celtic, it’s a very good move for him.

“He will have a great career and Celtic is a great springboard for something even bigger.

“Celtic and Rangers have always admired players from Croatia – I’m sure there will be many more who end up there. Our players are talented and the Scots love it.

“I think the Scots respect us because we show as much spirit and fight as they do.

“Celtic and Rangers know that signing players from Croatia will be a financially good move for them. Look at Jozo Simunovic at Celtic, who won lots of trophies.

“Borna Barisic has been an important Rangers player for a long time now and Niko Kranjcar was very popular with the fans.

“The Scottish league is not that difficult or demanding and you can win a lot of games.

“I earned a transfer to Everton because of my success in Glasgow.”
