A BED OF ROSES

Gary answers Kyla’s advert selling king-size frame and mattress ..six months later they are having a baby

- BY IONA YOUNG

A LOVED-UP couple are expecting a baby just six months after meeting on Facebook Marketplace over a bed listing.

Kyla Speirs, 25, met Gary MacDonald, 27, in February this year after he responded to her advert selling a super king bed frame with mattress.

Air stewardess Kyla accepted Gary’s offer of £150 for the bed and he agreed to collect the item shortly after.

As soon as the pair met, Kyla said it was “love at first sight” and she fancied the Sky engineer straight away but didn’t think she would hear from him ever again.

But Gary felt the same and weeks later plucked up the courage to get back in touch with Kyla – and the pair were a couple by April.

Now the smitten couple, from Bo’ness, Falkirk, have announced they are expecting a baby in January 2022.

Kyla shared a photograph of her original Marketplace ad alongside her baby scan on Twitter, writing “How it started v how it’s going. Love at first sight, I swear.”

The tweet has since had more than 2000 likes and comments from well-wishers on the social media site.

Mum-to-be Kyla said: “We fancied each other as soon as I opened the door.

“We have only been together since April.

“We don’t have the bed anymore. He literally picked it up, chatted for a bit then a while later we started messaging.

“I didn’t realise the post was going to be so popular, my phone honestly did not stop buzzing.

“I have had to turn my notifications off. It’s funny cause it looks so much worse than what everyone thinks.

“We never met again for weeks and weeks after it.”
