Ibrox striker proposes to Scots beauty therapist with giant sparkler
RANGERS striker Jermain Defoe popped the question to a beauty therapist with an eye-watering sparkler. The 38-year-old got down on one knee to propose to skincare boss Donna Tierney, 39, with a huge diamond ring believed to be worth tens of thousands of pounds. Mum Donna, a businesswoman and fitness enthusiast, who runs a skincare firm in Glasgow city centre, gave her pals a glimpse of the lavish square-cut gem with diamond-encrusted band in a clip on her Instagram story on Wednesday. Her most recent post shows an image of her tagged at Rangers FC, when the team were playing Malmo on August 10, which she captioned, “J #ForeverEver” with a heart emoji. Defoe, who has more than 500,009 followers on Instagram, responded with a diamond ring emoji. He has played for Spurs and West Ham, also has 57 England caps. A source said: “Donna was so thrilled at the effort Jermain went to. It was so romantic. They haven’t been together that long but they’re obviously in love. Signing for Rangers has turned out to be the best decision he’s ever made. He not only won the league title but found the woman of his dreams.”
The star’s tumultuous love life has been well-documented over the years.
He was reported to have broken off his engagement to retail manager Charlotte Mears in 2007 before starting a relationship with ex-Miss Great Britain Danielle Lloyd. But their relationship fizzled out after a couple of months.
He dated Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton for five months in 2009, and then Welsh model Imogen Thomas. He also dated X Factor winner Alexandra Burke in 2012.
We attempted to contact Defoe and his bride-to-be yesterday but they did not respond to our requests for comment.
