KANE IS KING AGAIN IN WIN

-

HARRY KANE bagged a double on his return to the Tottenham XI as they overturned a first-leg deficit against Pacos de Ferreira to win 3-0 and reach the Conference League group stage.

Trailing 1-0 after the first leg in Portugal – and with his immediate future resolved following interest from Manchester City – England star Kane opened the scoring after a lovely pass by winger Bryan Gil.

Kane, starting his first club game since May 23 after announcing on the eve of the match he was staying at Spurs, added a second before half-time from close range.

Kane was replaced in 72 minutes after taking his tally to 223 goals for the north London club.

As he left the pitch, he was left in no doubt that he is loved at the club.

By then Spurs had all but confirmed their place in the next stage after stretching their lead further. Giovani Lo Celso’s delivery looked like a cross and it took a nick off Pacos defender Vitorino Antunes but the Argentine was credited with the goal.

It was a thoroughly professional performance by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who have won three of their opening four games, scoring five with three clean sheets. They will discover their group opponents in today’s draw.

In the Europa League, Mahir Emreli was on target twice as Legia Warsaw overcame Slavia Prague 2-1 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate.

St Johnstone’s conquerors Galatasaray saw off Randers 2-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.

In Turkey, Patrick van Aanholt cancelled out Marvin Egho’s opener for the Danes following fine work by Ryan Babel.

And the unfortunate Frederik Lauenborg knocked in an own goal to win the tie for Gala, who take their place in today’s draw along with Celtic and Rangers.

Their league rivals Fenerbahce will also be there after they blew away Helsinki 5-2.

Enner Valencia got a hat-trick for the Turks who won 6-2 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, back in the Europa Conference League Dominik Plestil was on target as Jablonec – who Celtic eliminated from the Europa League – saw off MSK Zilina 3-0 and 8-1 on aggregate.
