BoJo’s failures are stacking up
BORIS Johnson’s handling of the UK’s departure from Afghanistan after 20 years has been pitiful.
Sadly, it is not surprising to see this Tory Prime Minister fail yet again when it comes to the big decisions.
Serious questions need to be asked of Johnson and some of his ministers over the UK’s last days in Afghanistan, especially of the hapless Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab who decided to remain on holiday at a five-star resort in Crete instead of returning to Westminster to deal with the crisis.
The criticism of Johnson has been pointed from opposition politicians but it is also coming from those within his own party.
The exit has been described as “shameful” and a “catastrophe” by Tory MPs who served on the frontline in Afghanistan.
The SNP’s Ian Blackford has highlighted the lack of preparation by the UK Government and the withdrawl’s impact on those Afghans who deserve our support.
Many have been left in the lurch, at the mercy of the Taliban, and it didn’t have to be that way.
Britain can’t and shouldn’t hide behind the mistakes made by the US.
But this is clearly not the first mess Johnson has presided over while in office.
His handling of Brexit and the pandemic showed the calibre of a man not fit to be prime minister.
Who knows where his incompetence and disinterest in anything but himself will lead the country next?
When big decisions come along, the charlatan Johnson is always found wanting.
