Pars fans were right to give us Wat for
PAUL WATSON admits he would have joined in the booing himself had he had been a Pars fan at East End Park on Saturday.
In a damning assessment of a shocking performance, Watson has confessed Peter Grant’s confidencesapped Pars were ‘just all over the place’.
There should be no taking away from Arbroath’s display, which was top-notch.
The Red Lichties had all the best players – apart from Dunfermline’s on-loan Rangers youngster Kai Kennedy – and that was as much to do with the fantastic part-timers as it was their hapless hosts.
But the fragile Fifers’ failings were so alarming in a second successive 3-0 defeat at home that Watson reckons the jeers at fulltime – and well before it – were fully justified.
With the loss heaping pressure on Grant, Watson said: “Arbroath fully deserved the three points.
I thought they out-fought us and we are just really disappointed.
“I felt that we were just all over the place, really. I think that was clear to see.
“The booing was fully deserved – if I was in there I would have booed as well.”
Arbroath netted via Michael McKenna’s brace plus David Gold while Kennedy struck the post and Pars had efforts from Kevin O’Hara and Nikolay Todorov ruled out.
They are now rock bottom of the Championship, with the Gayfield men sitting fourth
Arbroath No.2 Ian Campbell said: “We can’t lose what we’re good at and that’s being well organised defensively and denying people space and getting in people’s faces. But we can play as well. It’s a good place to be at the moment.”
