Lost driving licence turns upinUkraine charity shop
A SCOTS reveller’s lost driving licence was found in a charity shop in Ukraine – a year after it disappeared.
Shaun McCourt’s provisional permit went missing during a night out with pals in Glasgow last summer.
The 22-year-old, from the city, realised it had vanished when he checked his trouser pockets the next day and they were empty. He searched his home but couldn’t find the licence so ordered a new one.
However, Shaun recently received a message from a female Facebook user in Kiev. She wrote: “Hello, Shaun. You don’t know me. I’m from
Ukraine and have your driving licence.”
The stranger then sent him two pictures of his missing licence after finding it inside the pocket of a jacket bought in a charity shop.
Shaun said: “I ignored the message at first then two photos came through, of my driving licence. I kept asking, ‘How did that get over there?’ I just told her to keep it as a souvenir from Glasgow.”
Shaun shared his conversation with the Good Samaritan on social media and more than 13,000 people “liked it” on Twitter.
KIND-HEARTED Scots used a location-tracking app to find a wedding ring lost by a family on holiday.
Bob Hardy, 52, from Wakefield in Yorkshire, mislaid the silver ring on Irvine beach.
Luckily, their 15-year-old daughter Lily had taken a screenshot when they were there using the What3Words app, which gives each square in the world a unique three-word address. It specified where the family had been sitting and they issued a Facebook appeal, sharing the three words with metal detector groups in Scotland.
A couple, known only as Meg and Graham, found it and then got in touch.
Emma, 46, said: “With one swipe of the detector, the ring was found, buried in sand. They sent me a photo and we knew it was my husband’s. We thought it was lost for good.”
