CRAIG GORDON

-

Didn’t thank his pals for a couple of hospital passes but was quick to react any time the danger came his way. Huge save from Baumgartner.

JACK HENDRY

Continues to grow in stature. Put his body on the line when it was needed and the stopper’s pace got his side out of bother a couple of times.

GRANT HANLEY

Had to deal with a ton of cross balls but they were meat and drink to him. Made crucial blocks just before the break. Booked for a bit of wrestling.

KIERAN TIERNEY

Disciplined and dogged at the times when Scotland really needed to dig in. Kept it simple and didn’t take too many gambles.

STEPHEN O’DONNELL

Often found himself with acres of space to hit on counter. Didn’t always pick right option but always offered. Nearly scored with good shot.

BILLY GILMOUR

Took a while to get in to the game but once he did, the openness played in to his hands as he had time and space to pick his passes. Top drawer.

CALLUM McGREGOR

Moved the ball quickly from back to front but caught with a hefty challenge in first half. Created the space for Gilmour to shine.

ANDY ROBERTSON

Had to tuck in during the initial pressure but could be more expansive when the game became stretched. Kept charging the flank.

JOHN McGINN

A vital man in the early storm as he could muck in at the back and then burst in to attack. Picked out Dykes for an early opportunity.

CHE ADAMS

Worked hard to drag around defenders and was cute to win the penalty. Almost caught out the keeper in the second half.

LYNDON DYKES

Nerves would have been shredded with the long wait to take his spot kick but he just about kept his cool. Ruffled the Austrians all night.
