- WITH ELIZABETH ARCHER

The Tidal Year

WRITER and wild swimmer Freya Bromley set herself a challenge for 2021 – to swim in every tidal pool in the UK in just one year.

In her new podcast, she talks about her adventures and also interviews swimmers with interesting and inspiring stories to tell.

She speaks to three brothers who spent nine days swimming from the source of the River Eden to the Solway Firth where they grew up.

And there’s also a woman who healed a broken heart by swimming 52 lakes in Berlin in all weathers, and an architect who wants to create a floating lido in the Thames.

Dope Black Disabled

DISABILITY rights activists Kimmy Soko, Debola Daniel and Christine Jonel discuss their experiences of being black and disabled.

The three chat about everything from the Paralympics to what it’s like dating in a couple where one person is disabled and the other isn’t, and why the Free Britney movement is linked to disability rights.

Although topics can be sensitive, the hosts are genuine friends and they laugh throughout their informal and engaging discussions.

In one episode, Christine talks about swinging from a trapeze despite being an amputee with a prosthetic leg.

Ain’t Got A Clue

DURING lockdown, BBC presenter Marcus Bronzy and comedian Kae Kurd realised they are both terrible at quizzes and always end up with a sheet of wrong answers.

So here, they try to fill the gaps in their general knowledge by answering bizarre questions such as how many brains does an octopus have, how do you go to the toilet in space and what were the first forms of contraception made from?

There is plenty of comedy alongside the nuggets of knowledge. In an episode about where Marmite comes from, they break into skits about what sandwich fillings would be like as TV detectives.
