SCOTLAND captain Rachel Corsie is convinced Rangers striker Jane Ross can bring goals to the national team.

The vastly experienced striker has been recalled to the national set-up after missing out on friendlies in June against Northern Ireland and Wales.

Ross netted four goals last weekend in Rangers ‘ 7-0 rout of Hamilton.

And Corsie is optimistic a clinical finisher can be the difference as Scotland kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign tomorrow.

Pedro Martinez Losa’s regime begins in Budapest as the Corsie and Co play Hungary before they return to Hampden for Tuesday’s showdown with the Faroe Islands.

An inability to turn chances into goals undermined the Euros qualifying campaign.

Ross returned to Scotland and the Gers professional set-up after leaving Manchester United this summer, with Corsie eager to see domestic form in the national team.

She said: “In the last few years Jane maybe hasn’t got as much time on the pitch as she would have liked, so it was a good decision to move back to Scotland.

“She scored four goals at the weekend and that is probably the Jane Ross that we know.

“You look back at multiple campaigns and she has consistently scored goals. It is great to have her back and in the camp because she has so much experience but also because she is a very positive person.” Losa has been put straight into a World Cup campaign after being announced as Shelley Kerr’s permanent successor last month.

Kerr, who took Scotland to their inaugural World Cup in 2019, resigned on Christmas Eve before question marks ensued over the months it took to secure a new appointment.

Lack of time means there was scant opportunity for the Spaniard to assess the squad in friendly games before the qualification process begins.

Corsie, though, is sure that Scotland can absorb the lessons and methods of the new head coach quickly.

The Kansas City star said: “The timeline was what it was.

“In a perfect world I am sure we all wish we had more time to do more.

“Ultimately the game is on Friday and we need to be prepared.

“We can’t change the timing. The first few days have been great and if we continue like this, then we will be in a good position for Friday.

“Every single day we will be progressing forward.

“If we keep doing that, we will give ourselves a great chance in the group.

“With the international dates and when other teams will play games, you don’t want to give anyone a head start on you.

“We are starting off our campaign with two games we can win.

“It has been a positive few days. There is a lot of good energy around training right now.”
