QUOTE OF THE DAY

‘I would take the faux outrage aimed at Griffiths more seriously if they had left out the puns. After all, Leigh’s a ‘flare’ player is he not?’

be in awe meeting Griffiths – the player who scored twice against the English. I would take the faux outrage aimed at him on the Hotline from Hearts and Rangers fans more seriously if they had left out the puns. After all Leigh is a ‘flare’ player is he not?”

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, added: “I don’t condone what Griffiths did, he should have just slid the smoke bomb to the side of the pitch but why isn’t the fan who threw it tracked down and punished as well? Nothing is said about that!”

Scott Gowers, Edinburgh wanted to discuss the penalty incident at Dens which saw Jon McLaughlin escape a red card after chopping down Paul McMullen.

He said: “Willie Miller thinks that Rangers keeper McLaughlin should have been sent off. Miller may be an ex-player but the rules have changed since his day.

“McLaughlin made a genuine attempt for the ball which rendered it a yellow card and it was the one call Bobby Madden got right.

“No doubt this will go down in Hotline regular Gordon Ashley’s notebook regarding another one Rangers got away with. I just hope Mr Ashley recorded the challenges that could easily have been red cards that were not even given as a foul on Saturday. Madden had a shocker. Ianis Hagi will be glad to get out of Scottish football after treatment like that.”

Ah yes, here we are again. Mr Ashley stirred the hornet’s nest on Saturday when he claimed Glen Kamara was “bog standard”.

Rangers John Wilson said: “What Ashley knows about football you could put on the back of a penny black stamp. He’s declared Kamara ‘bog standard’ while comparing him to Callum McGregor. At least Kamara would have a chance outside of Scotland, not like McGregor who sees Scotland’s two-team league as his level judging by his new five-year deal.”
