Pars need to fill in blanks at both ends
DUNFERMLINE have sorted out their problems at the back and now Owain Fon Williams wants them to ensure they are on the front foot to win this week’s Fife derby.
The Pars are still awaiting their first victory of the Championship season after another East End Park stalemate.
After the positives of shutting out league leaders Inverness, the frustrating blank against Hamilton felt more like a missed opportunity.
Keeper Fon Williams believes Wednesday’s clash with Raith would be the ideal time to rack up their first win of Peter Grant’s reign.
He said: “First and foremost, what you want at home is a clean sheet and we have had that twice on the trot.
“With a clean sheet, all you need is an opportunity at the other end if you have got a base line of a solid defensive shape. If
0 0
you have got that and you take one opportunity you win the game.
“I would absolutely love it if we can get that first win in the derby. It would be great to take three points there.”
Craig Wighton crashed an early volley against the post for the Pars but Fon Williams has to look lively to tip over from Josh Mullin and saved secondhalf efforts from Mullin and Kieran MacDonald.
Defeat would have seen Accies drop to the bottom of the league but Mullin is convinced they are on the right track under boss Stuart Taylor.
He said: “It’s just about believing and I think we’re certainly doing that.
“It’s a positive that we’ve not been beaten.
“All these are things we’re trying to build on. You can see what we’re trying to do.”
