Sean happy with a new Jim regime

-

AYR skipper Sean McGinty is backing Jim Duffy to bag the Somerset Park job after the caretaker-boss extended his unbeaten run.

Duffy stepped in following David Hopkin’s departure, with United notching seven points from three games.

McGinty said: “It’s obviously down to the board but Jim has started very well and we have collected some really good points so far.

“Jim and his backroom staff are cracking on, they have done really well, so everything stays the same.

“If they are here next week then we’ll carry on and play for the shirt and make sure we go to Partick and get a good result.

“Jim has got his ideas across, everyone is really buying into it.”

Ayr had to make do with a point as McGinty’s former side Morton frustrated them.

The former Cappielow stopper added: “I think it’s

AYR .................. MORTON ........ a very good point against a Morton side who came and sat in, tried to frustrate us and we just couldn’t get the breakthrough.

“But on the balance of play I think we looked really good but just couldn’t quite get that goal we needed.”

Ayr struggled to create chances, going closest when sub James Maxwell clipped the bar late on.

Gozie Ugwu went closest for Morton with a 30-yard half volley which almost caught out keeper Charlie Albinson.

Morton keeper Jack Hamilton said: “It’s a tough, tough league so it’s good to come and pick up a point away from home.

“It’s been unfortunate in recent weeks that we’ve been losing some poor goals so it’s about trying to nullify that.

“Hopefully we can go a wee run now.”
