QUOTE OF THE DAY

‘Celtic’s treatment room is fuller than the dressing room. When players are pulling up at training, something has to be wrong’

-

Celtic performed before the big Aussie arrived and how lethargic they were, I am sure you will agree. That’s why we have so many injuries.”

James McClean, Rothesay, took issue with another Hotline call and said: “I’ve got to laugh at Rab Hunter’s comment about Hibs players going down easily. Does he ever watch Alfredo Morelos? A player only has to breathe on him and he goes down like a pack of cards but referees don’t see it.”

Andrew Lamb, Fraseburgh, said: “What an incredibly stupid comment from yesterday’s Hotline suggesting Sunday’s fixture between Aberdeen and Celtic will see one of the managers sacked. Can I remind that Steven Gerrard went TWO seasons trophyless.”

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, isn’t a fan of Steve Clarke’s idea to get ex-international players in to work with Scotland’s younger age groups.

He said: “Clarke wants former players to coach the next generation of players. Well, in this present team, the only ones doing the coaching are Parks of Hamilton when they bus them home after failing to reach Qatar. And the only stars Scotland will be seeing any time soon are the ones in the sky.”

Manchester United beat Villarreal on Wednesday night in the Champions League thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s last-gasp winner but Alan Lough, Dunbar, was not impressed.

He said: “I’ve been a Man United fan all my life and I’m ashamed of the result against Villarreal.

“It’s pathetic that a team the size and stature of United have to rely on David de Gea making a string of brilliant saves to stop that Spanish side giving us an absolute hammering – and then having to rely on a goalkeeping mistake to win 2-1.

“Have Manchester United honestly been reduced to this rubbish? What an absolute embarrassment.”
