Heartbreak split album is for son..
Adele interview first for 5 years
ADELE has given her first interview for five years, revealing she recorded her new album for her young son, about her break-up with his father.
The singer announced she was splitting from charity boss Simon Konecki in April 2019 and they finalised their divorce in March, sharing custody of Angelo, eight. Speaking about the break-up for the first time, she said: “It just wasn’t right for me any more. “I didn’t want to end up like a lot of other people I knew. I would have been miserable had I not put myself first.” Adele, 33, was disappointed they could not make the relationship work, mainly for Angelo. She added: “I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his 20s or 30s, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness. “It made him really unhappy sometimes. That’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.” Adele said her son asked her lots of questions including why they didn’t stay together. She tried to tell him and recorded voice notes of the explanations. A snippet of one is on the upcoming album. She added: “I was embarrassed. That thing of not being able to make something work. “We’ve been trained as women to keep trying, even by movies we watched when we were little. At the time it broke my heart but I find it so interesting now. How we’re told to suck it up.” Konecki bought a house opposite Adele in Los Angeles so “nothing changes” for their son. Adele also discussed her new boyfriend, sports agent Rich Paul, with Vogue. She said: “I did date before Rich but they hated it. They’d find it stressful being out or seen with me. He’s not frazzled by it at all. “He’s great. He’s so f**king funny. He’s so smart, you know.” She also told how she lost 100lb by working out over two years. She said: “It was because of my anxiety. Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was about becoming strong.” ● Adele is on the cover of the November issues of British and American Vogue.
