Ex Miss UK lands £350m divorce
She’s wealthier than Jagger
A FORMER Miss UK is now Britain’s richest divorcee after splitting from her billionaire husband.
Kirsty Bertarelli, 50, is thought to have agreed a £350million settlement, with a £52million home by Lake Geneva in Switzerland on top.
She also owns an £8million chalet in the Swiss ski resort of Gstaad.
It means the model, formerly Kirsty Roper, from Staffordshire, is richer than Sir Mick Jagger, said to be worth £310m, Ed Sheeran (£220m) and Adele (£140m).
Her personal wealth even rivals that of the Queen’s, estimated at £365m.
Kirsty, Miss UK in 1988, is also a singer and songwriter.
She co-wrote All Saints’ 2000 hit Black Coffee and supported Simply Red in 2010.
She is from the well-off family behind one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of ceramic products, Churchill China in Stoke-on-Trent. In 1997 she met Italian-born Ernesto Bertarelli at a dinner party in Sardinia.
He is one of Switzerland’s richest men largely due to his inheritance of his grandad’s pharmaceutical firm, Serono, which he sold for £6.7billion in 2006.
They married in 2000 and have three children. In this year’s Sunday Times Rich List they were jointly ranked 14th with a total fortune of £9.2bn.
The couple are believed to have separated this year. Kirsty was represented by Baroness Shackleton of Belgravia, previously divorce lawyer for the Prince of Wales and Sir Paul McCartney.
It is understood Kirsty signed a prenup before marrying Ernesto, a twotime winner of the America’s Cup – sailing’s top prize.
The couple’s spokesman said: “The decision was a shared one and the separation amicable.”
