It’s time we go about it Wright way
TOMMY WRIGHT has challenged his Kilmarnock players to bounce back at Rugby Park tonight as they bid to bag a quarter-final in the SPFL Trust Trophy.
The Ayrshiremen went down 3-1 to Raith on league duty last weekend as they lost ground in their push to get promoted back to the top flight at the first go.
They will get some league respite in the form of cup competition and Wright revealed plans to rotate his squad for the visit of League One leaders Queen’s Park.
He said: “When you lose a game, you just have to make sure you win the next one, irrespective of the competition. We are looking forward to the game, we are at home and we want to progress.
“There will be some changes to the team. It’s important for a number of different reasons. We don’t have a reserve team and with the lack of games for the players who aren’t playing, it is important they get game time.”
Captain Chris Stokes continues to miss out and will be joined on the sidelines by Fraser Murray, who tweaked his hamstring at Arbroath a fortnight ago.
Stuart Morrison and Jake Davidson are unlikely to return for the Spiders, who are one of just three teams in the SPFL still unbeaten in the league.
And defender Tommy Robson reckons it is a blessing Laurie Ellis’ outfit don’t have the luxury of an international break unlike many others.
He said: “It’s important because I don’t really like going two weeks without a game. It just keeps the routine still going.
“In our case Kilmarnock will be a big challenge for us, which I know the boys will be looking forward to.”
