IT’S GOOD TO BE JACK
Pal Stewart says Gers will get a massive boost from midfield ace’s return to team
I hear it won’t be long before he’s back on the pitch. “That’s great news. It’ll be like a new signing for the team because we’ve missed him. “Every team would miss Ryan in their line-up as he’s got a bit of everything. He even chips in with goals, which is great for a midfielder. “Once he’s back, it’ll be like he’s got a new lease of life. I can’t wait to see him out there.” Jack made the last of his 130 club appearances in a 4-1 win over Dundee United at Ibrox on February 21.
The frustration on his face as he limped down the tunnel was clear as the possibility of another stint sidelined loomed.
Since making the move from Aberdeen to Govan in the summer of 2017, Jack has been available for just 56 per cent of the 233 fixtures the Light Blues have contested in that time.
There have been sections of the Ibrox support who have argued it is time to cut the former Pittodrie skipper loose and sign more robust options. But having watched his friend come through the dark days, Stewart insists only good times lie ahead now the specialist who treated him finally identified the source of his troubles.
He said: “It was a sore one at the time for Ryan. He was one of my closest mates when I was at the club and I’ve kept in touch with him since I’ve left.
“It was gutting for him when he found out he’d miss the title run-in and then the Euros.
“But it was an injury they had to get to the bottom of. I’m just glad they’ve found out what was causing it. He’s going to come back better and stronger.
“Ryan will still be a massive player for Rangers this season.”
