Hollyoaks star McGlynn is voted off after soap schedule struggle

- BY NICOLA METHVEN

KATIE McGlynn has become the second star to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing.

It follows suggestions she was struggling to find enough time to train amid her hectic Hollyoaks schedule.

Last week, her jive landed her in the dance-off against Nina Wadia, and she won thanks to head judge Shirley Ballas.

But last night she faced Judi Love, and this time it was the Loose Women star who Shirley chose to save.

The head judge said: “Both couples gave it their very, very best. I didn’t see any mistakes from either one, both beautiful performances.

“I am going to go with the one that I felt had more edge and more rhythm to me, so I am going to go with Judi and Graziano.”

Anton had previously voted to save Katie, citing “a very slight mistake” from Judi in her dance off.

Katie, who dressed as Cruella De Vil for her American Smooth with Gorka Marquez, said she had loved her time on the show.

“I am so happy I got to be Cruella and dance with this amazing guy, I have loved every second of it,” she said. “Thank you for being an amazing partner, we have laughed so much and I get to walk away with an amazing friend. Thanks so much for teaching me in your funny ways, we have had so much fun.” Gorka told her: “I have loved it, the love that she has for the show. “Speaking for all the pros, it isn’t just about someone who can dance, it is someone who wants to learn, who wants to improve, and makes us love what we do, and makes our job enjoyable and easy. That’s what I had with Katie and I will never forget this experience, it’s been incredible.” Some viewers reported feeling tension between the pair. Ahead of their first dance, he praised her achievements despite having had “no hours to train”. She admitted: “I’ve been filming a lot at Hollyoaks, so we’ve just been scrambling for time.” Then last week, fans suspected a feud after the dance-off, with one saying: “Gorka looked really annoyed and Katie was barely clapping.

“I thought they seemed a bit off with each other last week but this week it was really obvious.

Another agreed: “Gorka and Katie DO NOT like each other.”

But the pair have since brushed off the remarks, insisting they get along just fine.

During Katie and Gorka’s dance on Saturday, Craig made a risque gag about Gorka being dressed as a dalmatian dog, laughing: ”It really has made my night seeing you on all fours, darling.”

Presenter Tess Daly was left covering her face.
