How to master the techniques that take your transformation skills to the next level

dreaded “racoon eyes”, where pigment has fallen underneath your eyes and creates an aged appearance.

Use lip scrubs

Perfect for weekly use, lip scrubs provide exfoliation by removing the dead skin cells off your lips. Exfoliated lips better absorb moisturising agents such as balms and oils, and they make make-up application much easier. You don’t have to spend money on a lip scrub, chances are you have all the ingredients you need in your kitchen cupboard! Simply mix 1tsp of honey with 2tsps of sugar, massaging the mixture onto your lips. Leave this on for five minutes before using a washcloth to gently remove the product from your lips.

Consider your eye shape when buying false eyelashes

Narrow down your selection by finding out your eye shape. Almond eyes, the most universal shape, match most false eyelashes. Other shapes to consider are round eyes, monolid eyes, deep set eyes, wide set eyes, prominent, downturned, upturned, and close set. Once you know your shape, there are plenty of lash options.

Contour with your concealer

Extend your concealer underneath the eyes, so that it is in line with the end of your eyebrow, to create a sculpted and lifted appearance to the face. If you apply a little concealer on the bridge of your nose, it can be used in substitute to highlighter. Finally, applying three vertical lines of concealer in the middle of your forehead can illuminate your face. Just remember to blend, blend, blend!

Take care of your skin

Before you apply any product, cleanse the skin with a mild facial wash to even out your skin tone. Apply a brightening serum and then apply a light moisturiser with SPF in it. Wait 15 minutes for your skincare to set in before beginning your make-up routine with primer.

Throw out expired make-up

It’s hard to let go of your favourites. However, expired beauty products can cause skin irritation and harbour harmful bacteria. As well as this, they can make make-up application harder as it can change the texture of your product.
