BRIT-flick hardman, EastEnders’ landlord and all-round diamond geezer Danny Dyer and his reality TV star daughter Dani tackle antiquing in this fun road trip. They make for a hilarious show as they go head-to-head to earn the most at auction from whatever treasures they can find. Joining them as they gallivant around Essex and Hertfordshire are expert auctioneers Natasha Raskin Sharp, who is simply giddy to be in the presence of Danny, and Philip Serrell – less fussed, but eventually won over by Dani’s charms. Each team has £400 to spend but there’s a lot at stake. The dad and daughter have a wager – the loser must treat the other to a Chinese banquet. Danny is excited. “This is the perfect opportunity for me to mince around in little antique stores and get all excitable about it,” he says. He’s also keen to remind everyone that – as famously discovered on Who Do You Think You Are? – he is related to King Edward III. “I’m a future king of England,” he says. “Maybe we can find something with a royal vibe.” As they set about hunting, it’s a good call from Natasha to let Danny do all the haggling – since he has all that practice from the Albert Square market stalls. Meanwhile Dani is no stranger to a boot sale and puts her experience into action. A close-run auction sees bidders compete for the Dyers’ finds, including items with a connection to Charles Darwin, James Bond and Willy Wonka. But who will have to get their wallet out for the date with the crispy duck?
