Murray: We have the fight to hit three

-

INNES MURRAY is targeting victory for Edinburgh City at Elgin tomorrow night that would see Gary Naysmith’s side leap into third place.

The 23-year-old on-loan Hibs midfielder hit Saturday’s late winner against Stirling Albion as City underlined their play-off credentials.

It all added up to three straight wins but it was a different story for Binos, in third spot, as they endured a third successive defeat.

Former Celtic youngster Murray said: “I’m delighted. It’s a tough place to come and to get all three points is brilliant.

“We have come back a few times this season. We know what our changing room is like and everyone fights to the end.

“You could see that in the last 10 minutes when we got the winner.

“I’m loving it here. I just wanted to get out on loan and get as many minutes as possible. The manager has given me the chance to do that and I’m just trying to do my best.

“We have to build on this now. We’ve got Elgin on Tuesday night and the gaffer has just reiterated that we go again.

“There are plenty of games but that is what you want. We have another big game in the Scottish Cup on Saturday and it’s a good chance for us to get into the fourth round.”

Stirling’s Dale Carrick fired home a perfect Kieran Moore delivery in the 22nd minute.

But City hit back before the break as John Robertson controversially levelled from the spot after Stirling skipper Ross

McGeachie was judged to have brought down Ouzy See, which did appear soft.

Referee Ross Hardie harshly sent off Stirling’s Ray Grant for a second booking with 15 minutes left.

And in the 79th minute, Murray slotted past Stirling keeper Blair Currie.

Kelty Hearts ended Stenhousemuir’s five game winning run with a 2-0 victory. On-loan Aberdeen youngster Connor Barron put Kelty ahead in the eighth minute, with Joe Cardle doubling their lead in the second half.

Forfar scored three times in the last 13 minutes to beat bottom side Cowdenbeath 3-0. Andy Munro headed the opener, Grant Anderson nodded in a second and Matty Aitken curled in a late free-kick.

Craig Ross earned Stranraer a 1-0 win against 10-man Elgin who had Kane Hester sent off midway through the second half.

It was 1-1 at Galabank with first-half goals from Annan’s Dominic Docherty and Rovers’ Callum Wilson.
