Devlin can see the upside of nicking point from Buddies

-

THEY sit three points off the top six and three above a relegation play-off spot.

Livingston’s season could go either way but David Martindale’s men continue to move in the right direction after a difficult start.

Goal hero Nicky Devlin stopped short of predicting a big surge up the table but is sure they’ll take positivity from two wins and three draws into hosting Rangers and new boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst next Sunday.

Devlin said: “That’s five unbeaten now and we’ll try to continue it next week.

“We’ve been a wee bit slack at home this year and let teams come and beat us, which is not like us. If we can sort that out and keep picking up away points, we will be all right.

“It’s too tight to say what we can do, especially with the next eight or nine games coming up over Christmas. We knew if we won here we’d have jumped up to joint sixth.

“We have another point on the road, which is great. It would’ve been harsh to come away with nothing.

“Playing a team like St Mirren, they are not sixpointers, but you can stop them from winning and from getting a wee bit further ahead of you.”

Devlin says his deadly strike on 88 minutes is likely to be his sole contribution to trying to win the club’s goal of the season prize.

The defender, who hadn’t scored since February, said: “There will be no other entries from me! It was a good strike and, overall, we deserved to take something.

“Both of the goals were really good. Sometimes someone has a wee bit of quality, although at halftime it felt like it might be a set-play to separate us.”
