FREEMAN SET TO SIGN NEW UNITED DEAL

- BY SCOTT BURNS

KIERAN FREEMAN is closing in on a new Dundee United deal.

The right-back is out of contract in the summer and is in talks over an extension.

Freeman is back in a second spell with United and is now getting regular top-team football after a three-year injury hell.

He said: “I’m out of contract in the summer but I love it here. There are initial talks but I’m just focusing on the pitch at the minute. If Dundee United want me to stay here then I’ll be delighted.

“But these kinds of things take care of themselves. I’ve got to keep doing what I’m doing to try to keep the jersey.

“It’s been a big journey to get to where I am but it’s all been worth it to enjoy a day like I did on Saturday.

“I just want to keep on enjoying my Saturdays.”

The 21-year-old believes something special is happening at United under Tam Courts. The weekend win over Aberdeen took them into the top four.

He added: “Everyone at the club is really connected at the moment. That’s helping performances on the pitch. When you see the looks on the fans’ faces, it mirrors the look on ours. I feel ecstatic seeing everyone celebrating

“We’re happy with the way we’ve started the season but there is plenty that we can improve on.

“I think every supporter will be happy with where we are at the minute but there is definitely more to come from this team.”

United are also in talks with Benjamin Siegrist, Ian Harkes, Jeando Fuchs, Chris Mochrie, Lewis Neilson, Archie Meekison and Louis Appere.

Striker Appere came off the bench and made a real impact against Aberdeen.

He said: “The manager told me to come on and run my socks off and that’s what I tried to do.”
