United at Tannadice on Saturday. Ojo received the booking after an incident involving a fan.

He was allegedly pushed by a home supporter after hurdling the advertising boards and his momentum took him close to the Eddie Thompson Stand.

The Dons midfielder, who had been carded earlier in the game, moved towards the individual before going back on to the pitch. But he was left stunned when referee Bobby Madden cautioned him for a second time and sent him packing.

SFA chiefs looked over the incident yesterday but then revealed there is no mechanism for them to cancel out his second booking.

Yellow cards can only be downgraded if it falls under the guise of mistaken identity or for simulation.

Ojo’s booking fell under neither category and so he will now be suspended for the weekend trip to face Celtic at Parkhead.

Meanwhile, Dundee United have confirmed they have cancelled a season ticket and have issued an immediate ban after reviewing the incident on Saturday.

Police Scotland confirmed on Sunday that they had charged a 35-year-old man in connection with the incident and that he will appear in court at a later date.

A United statement read: “Dundee United FC have been working in conjunction with Police Scotland to review an incident that occurred during Saturday’s match.

“We can confirm that an individual has had their season ticket cancelled and been banned from Tannadice Park for unacceptable conduct and breaching the terms of their season ticket contract.

“The club is committed to ensuring a safe environment for everyone to come along and enjoy football matches at Tannadice and we ask all fans to help ensure this is the case.”
