Blow their minds

Doran claims victory over Killie will give Caley mental edge in title race

- BY ALASDAIR FRASER

AARON DORAN reckons Caley Thistle can gain a massive psychological edge if they beat Killie tonight.

Kilmarnock haven’t won in Inverness for 11 years, but are unbeaten on the road in the Championship this season. A win for Caley Thistle’s tonight would take Billy Dodds’ men two points clear of the Rugby Park side and Raith at the top of the table. Doran said: “We want to be at the top of the league come the weekend.

“Friday night under the lights is always good to play in. There’s more atmosphere – personally, I enjoy it more – and we’re at home.

“We’re looking for a win and it’s a great incentive, the chance of going into the weekend top of the league.

“We’ve already beaten Kilmarnock and we’re going to go out there confident. Two wins over Kilmarnock might give us a psychological edge.

They are favourites but we don’t fear anybody in this league. When we play to the level we know we can, we’re a good match for anybody.

“We’re really confident coming off the win at Queen of the South and we just need to bring the same performance and workrate.”

Boss Billy Dodds was quick to downplay the significance of tonight’s clash.

He insisted: “It’s a really important game but it’s not going to define the season.

“We’d love to win it as it would give you momentum and give the players, the staff and the club a brilliant boost, but Kilmarnock will feel the

exact same.

“I can’t wait for the game. It’s live on TV and the players also can’t wait.”

Kilmarnock boss Tommy Wright is targeting a third win in seven days, following cup wins over Queen’s Park and Hamilton Accies.

Wright said: “We said we wanted three wins and we have two out of two so far.

“We need to make sure we have recovered well so we can hopefully get three points.

“The squad will be full of confidence and no matter what team we put out, I am expecting us to go up there and get a result.”
