Hibees land extra final ticket haul

-

have just under 20,000 Hibees in the stands for the first final of the Scottish season as Ross and his men chase their first major silverware since beating Rangers in the 2016 Scottish Cup Final.

A club statement said: “After constant discussion with the SPFL, we have been given just over 2000 extra tickets.

“As a club, we are happy that more of our supporters will be able to attend the game at Hampden Park and that our persistence with the SPFL paid off.

“We’d like to thank all supporters who have purchased tickets for the Premier Sports Cup Final, in what will be a day to remember for all Hibees.”

The extra tickets, which are debenture seats in the upper tier of the BT South Stand, will go on sale this afternoon.

Hibs came out swinging after the initial ticket divvy-up that saw Celtic handed close to 30,000 briefs for the December 19 showdown at the national stadium.

Manager Ross said he was “baffled” and “astonished” that it wasn’t a 50/50 split and a stinging club statement echoed the gaffer’s stance.

It said: “We think it is of paramount importance that we receive a greater allocation for our supporters, and for sporting integrity.”

While Hibs pointed to sporting integrity, opponents of their standpoint highlighted the fact that the Leith club took only 10,000 fans to the thrilling semi-final win over Rangers.

That victory saw Martin Boyle grab a first-half trick as a famous victory was clinched over Gers.

Now the club can add a further partial victory on behalf of their fans with the additional allocation.
