Josh tipped to star ahead of Glasgow debut

- BY DAVID BARNES

GLASGOW WARRIORS boss Danny Wilson has backed new boy Josh McKay to provide a sprinkling of stardust which will help his team get the season back on track.

The full-back will make his debut for the club in tonight’s United Rugby Championship clash against the Dragons at Scotstoun.

McKay, 24, was originally signed in February but couldn’t move to Scotland until two weeks ago because he was under contract with

Canterbury in his native New Zealand.

Warriors are desperate for a positive performance and result against the Dragons following last weekend’s last-minute loss to Benetton.

And Wilson believes the stage is set for McKay to establish himself as a fans’ favourite. The coach said: “Josh arrived a couple of weeks ago and he looks exciting – he’s a sharp attacking threat.

“This is his first game for the Warriors so I am excited about getting him on the pitch and I think the supporters – rightly so – are excited as well.

“Playing at home on a fast track in his first match will hopefully suit him. We’ll build from there and see how we get him integrated with the rest of the squad.”

Domingo Motti is also set for his Warriors bow after being named on the bench for tonight’s match.

Meanwhile, coach Wilson has recalled Ali Price and Zander Fagerson – the two British and Irish Lions in his squad – for tonight’s match, having rested the talented pair last week.

Captain Ryan Wilson is also back after being released last week to play for the Barbarians against Samoa at Twickenham.
