HAVE A GOOD TIME..

Court hears Maxwell led teen to robed Epstein in massage room and told her:

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN

GHISLAINE Maxwell led a 17-yearold girl to Jeffrey Epstein, asked her to massage him and told her to “have a good time,” a court heard.

British socialite Maxwell had invited the girl to her London home, New York’s Lower Manhattan Court was told.

The witness, now 44, and referred to as Kate in court, testified that Maxwell asked her to fill in for Epstein’s massage therapist, who had cancelled.

Kate, speaking in an upper-class British accent, told how Maxwell led her upstairs to a room where financier Epstein was waiting in just a robe.

After the massage, which included sex acts Epstein initiated, Maxwell told Kate she was “such a good girl”. Kate added: “She sounded really pleased.”

Kate said Maxwell later asked her to find someone who would perform oral sex on Epstein, as he “liked to orgasm three times a day”, the court heard.

Kate also told of Maxwell’s habit of name-dropping her powerful friends. She said: “She was friends with Prince Andrew, friends with Donald Trump... sometimes their names would just come up or she would be talking on the phone.”

Kate said she was once given a schoolgirl outfit to wear when seeing Epstein in his Palm Beach home in Florida, consisting of a short pleated skirt and white socks and underwear.

Asked why she wore it, she replied: “I didn’t know how to say no to that.

“I didn’t know anybody in Florida. I had never been to Palm Beach or Florida before. I wasn’t sure if I said no if I would have to leave or what consequence there would be for not doing it.”

At one point a prosecutor asked Kate about gifts Maxwell had given her.

Kate replied: “A small black Prada bag for my 18th birthday.”

She confirmed that was after she had had sex with Epstein. Once a musician and singer, Kate said she now works with women who are victims of trauma.

Under cross-examination, she admitted she had been addicted to cocaine, alcohol and sleeping pills.

The defence claimed these had affected her memory but Kate said: “The memories that I have of significant events of my life have never changed.”

Kate said she met Maxwell in Paris in the 1990s, when she was 17.

She said Maxwell showed her a photo of Epstein and said he was a philanthropist who helped people such as her.

Charmed by Maxwell, she said she felt she had “found a new connection that could be very meaningful for me”. She added: “I left there feeling exhilarated.” When she finally met Epstein in London, he was in jogging clothes talking loudly on his phone, she recalled.

After giving him the massage, she told the court, Maxwell asked her if she knew other girls. Kate claims she said to her: “You know what he likes. Cute, young, pretty – like you.”

But judge Alison Nathan pointed out to jurors that Kate was a witness only, not an alleged victim in the trial.

Maxwell’s lawyer Bobbi Sternheim asked Kate whether she had asked someone to plant drugs on the father of her child to advance a custody case. The witness denied the accusation.

Maxwell, 59, denies six offences. They include enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts and sex trafficking of a minor.

She is further alleged to have lied under oath by hiding her participation in Epstein’s offences during a separate civil case.

If convicted of all charges, she faces up to 80 years in prison.

Epstein committed suicide in August 2019 while in jail aged 66. He had been charged with child sex offences. The trial continues.
