SEXT TEXT COP JAILED

Officer bombarded sex assault and domestic abuse victims with sleazy pics and messages

-

A MARRIED police officer who hounded vulnerable women with sex texts and naked selfies after probing cases has been jailed for 14 months and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

Constable David Taylor, 37, harassed three women and bombarded them with filth.

He used Snapchat to contact one of after she had been sexually assaulted near her home and went on to stalk her.

Taylor pestered the other two after they had told police they were the domestic abuse victims.

In a seven-year campaign the PC boasted that he wanted to act out a scene from Fifty Shades of Grey by using his handcuffs on one woman.

Sheriff Alistair Watson told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court the Glaswegian’s behaviour was appalling.

He added: “These women had come to report crimes against them as victims. One was a victim of sexual crime – that’s very significant.

The term was reduced from 18 months because Taylor admitted his guilt. He admitted to four of the 13 charges he faced.

The court had heard that he made contact with his first victim an hour after he had dealt with her complaint in 2011.

In 2017, he told a woman who had been sexually assaulted that he wanted to arrest her, cuff her to a bed and have sex.

And in 2018, he sent naked videos and photos to a woman who had said her ex had threatened to kidnap her daughter.

Prosecutor Peter Moyes had revealed Taylor’s first victim, who was 39 at the time in 2011, contacted police due to an issue between her and her ex.

Taylor said it was a civil matter and an hour later began texting her, sending “flirty” and “sexually explicit” messages. She deleted his number, but messages came to light in 2019.

In 2016, Taylor was assigned as Reporting Officer in the case of a 20-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted.

In 2017, he Snapchatted her and said he was an officer. He sent messages about her case and said he wanted to protect her.

Chief Superintendent Andrew McDowall from Police Scotland’s Professional Standards Department said: “He breached the trust of the female victims he engaged with, and the trust of the wider public. He is no longer a serving officer.”

Procurator Fiscal for North Strathclyde Katie Stewart said: “David Taylor grossly abused his position of power as an officer.”
