THE festive season should be a time of peace on earth and goodwill to all men.

Well, not on the Hotline it ain’t as the daily Old Firm squabbles rumble on. Celtic and Rangers fans were at each other’s throats on every subject from refereeing standards to the level of prestige attached to a European trophy scrapped two decades ago.

Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “A lot of fake bluster coming from Rangers fans this week. They thought this season would be easy after the mess Celtic were in pre-season and that it was over when they went six clear early on.

“But that hasn’t happened and we’re not going away. They need the money for winning the league 10 times more than us and all the pressure is on them.”

Ciaran Mallon, Belfast, said: “Rangers supporters complainin­g that penalties are not awarded against Celtic at Parkhead is laughable, especially on a weekend when even Kris Boyd admitted Hearts should have had a penalty.

“Everyone who is not blinded by the blue haze knows Rangers get more dodgy decisions going their way than any other team in Scotland. One thing I do agree with them on though is the introducti­on of VAR. I reckon it would benefit Celtic more than Rangers.”

Sean Beech, Hampshire, said: “It would appear turkeys do indeed vote for Christmas with all these Rangers fans demanding VAR’s introducti­on. The blue half of Glasgow very convenient­ly seem to forget all about the dodgy penalties and decisions they’ve had go their way already this season.”
