BOY, 4, SAVES MUM’S LIFE

AWARD FOR QUICK-THINKING SEAN Care assistant praises son who stayed calm when she took unwell at home

- BY MATT BRYAN

A HEROIC four-yearold boy saved his mum’s life when she took ill at home.

Little Sean Davis called an ambulance when Claire Davis began struggling for breath and losing consciousness from a bacterial infection.

The 32-year-old’s body began “shutting down” while the pair were watching movies in bed, sparking the quickthinking lad to make a dash for the phone.

Sean told emergency staff exactly what was happening, updating them on his mum and providing the full address of his home in Burnbank, Hamilton, for paramedics.

The life-threatening scenario could have had a different outcome if it hadn’t been for the fouryear-old’s heroics, admitted Claire, who is now recovering after her son saved her life. She said: “If it hadn’t been for Sean, it would’ve been a different story.

“I hadn’t been feeling well all day so we decided to have a wee snuggle day upstairs. And at around 7pm I took a turn for the worse and Sean knew he had to phone the ambulance because he knew his mummy needed help.

“Sean said it was very scary but he knew he had to be brave.”

A month on from the incident, the Scottish Ambulance Service wrote to Sean congratulating him.

He was presented with a trophy and medal which he showed off at St Cuthbert’s Primary School.

Working as a senior health care assistant, Claire’s job has been hectic recently and living with two sons, Sean, and John Patrick, 12, they too have picked up how important it is to look after one another.

“Sean was totally elated with the award,” Claire added.

Sean was given authorised absence from school yesterday to attend his ceremony, however due to it being cancelled, Claire took him out for the day to a soft play as a treat.
