With her forever..

- BY RUSSELL MYERS

THE Queen will pay a heartfelt tribute to her beloved late husband Prince Philip in a deeply personal Christmas Day message tomorrow.

The 95-year-old monarch is set to recall saying goodbye to her partner of 73 years as well as reminiscing on family moments.

A treasured photograph of herself and the Duke of Edinburgh recreating a picture from their honeymoon in 1947 will sit on her desk as she makes the traditional festive speech.

In the 3pm broadcast she will also be seen wearing the same sapphire chrysanthemum brooch she wore for the original photocall at Broadlands, Hampshire.

A senior palace source said the address would be “a particularly personal one, as the monarch prepares to spend her first festive period since the death of the Duke of Edinburgh”.

It marks the end of a year peppered with both joy and immense sadness.

She has welcomed four greatgrandchildren – August to Princess Eugenie, Lucas to Zara Tindall, Lilibet to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Sienna to Princess Beatrice.

But her family has been plagued by infighting and scandal.

Harry and Meghan gave a bombshell interview to US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey and Virginia Giuffre is suing the Duke of York for allegedly sexually assaulting her, which Andrew vehemently denies.

Like last year, the Queen is also expected to praise the heroes of the pandemic.

The monarch spent a final Christmas alone with Prince Philip at Windsor Castle last year as Covid rates surged.

An image of her sat alone at his April 17 funeral is one of the most poignant of the pandemic.

Charles and Camilla yesterday said they will join the Queen for Christmas dinner at Windsor after she cancelled plans to host her wider family at Sandringham, Norfolk.

The Duchess of Cornwall will also read extracts of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol in an Instagram series over Christmas.

It is thought that William and Kate will host her parents at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk for Christmas Day.

It was confirmed yesterday that Her Majesty has agreed to a memorial service for Prince Philip being held at Westminster Abbey sometime in the spring.

Buckingham Palace said that the date of the service would depend on Covid rates and that official guidelines would be followed.

A competition has been launched to name a new city for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, with Stanley in the Falkland Islands among the hopefuls.
