EASTON SEALS PERFECTWEEK FORDIAMONDS

- BY BEN BANKS

DUMBARTON...0 AIRDRIE ..........

IAN MURRAY saluted his Airdrie aces after Dylan Easton’s strike made it a perfect week for the Diamonds.

Easton struck in the second half but the win could have been a little more comfortable if the midfielder’s goal in the first half had been allowed to stand.

Dumbarton were left breathing a sigh of relief when Easton’s corner kick went directly in but it was chalked off for a foul on Sons keeper Sam Ramsbottom.

Dumbarton almost made the breakthrough on the hour mark but Ross MacLean fired his effort wide of the target.

Easton finally got his name on the scoresheet in the 68th minute.

On-loan Celtic midfielder Kerr McInroy set up Easton and he fired a shot low past the helpless Ramsbottom.

Rhys McCabe almost doubled the Diamonds’ lead minutes later but the former Rangers star saw his free-kick crack back off the post.

Boss Murray was delighted to see his side round off a tough week with another victory, after they had seen off promotion rivals Queen’s Park and Alloa.

He said: “I said at the start of the week that If we got through it with nine points and no more injuries then we couldn’t ask for anything more.

“It was a concern earlier this week as we’ve had some injuries and the amount of games coming so quick.

“We have had to battle through it so full credit to all the players, not just the ones who played and came off the bench.

“It’s a great win for us. The conditions were difficult but I felt we deserved to win.

“It was tight but it always is down here. It is a very difficult place to come so we are delighted with the three points.

“It keeps us ticking along nicely but we need to recover very quickly.”
