KURT CAN’T LOSE WINNING FEELING

-

KURTIS ROBERTS and his Stirling Albion team-mates took just 90 minutes to beat their “embarrassing” points tally for the second quarter – and he won’t forget that winning feeling against the leaders.

Binos ended a ninegame winless streak with last weekend’s 2-1 success at Stenhousemuir, having taken just two points since mid October.

While the Binos have the novelty of that triumphant high again, Kelty Hearts visit after their first loss of the campaign with a 5-1 thumping from Annan.

Roberts said: “We went that full quarter with two points, it isn’t good enough, nowhere near it. So it is good to start this quarter with three, more than what we got in the last one.

“Two points is pretty embarrassing. But when you find yourselves in a wee rut, it’s hard to get out of it.

“Then, as you start to find out, things don’t go your way when they should. You can’t complain about these things, you’ve just got to get on with it.

“Last Saturday, the gaffer was giving his interview saying, ‘The fans are still chanting’ and you can hear shouting – that was us in the changing room!

“It’s long overdue, you forget what it’s like to come home with three points.”

And yet Albion are just a point off the play-off places. The midfielder added: “It just shows how far ahead we could have been if we had done only half as well as what we did in the first quarter.”

Robbie McNab has signed a new two-year contract at Kelty since their Boxing Day bashing.

And he said: “It feels like a lifetime ago when we actually played so hopefully the defeat is not fresh in the boys’ minds.

“But now we’ve had a week’s break in between. it is still not great to have, but we’ve had a bit more time to train and get over it.”
