GET ON A PROMISE

- GARRY OWEN

CLONDAW PROMISE (2.0) can be trusted to perform in the Stella Artois Handicap Chase at Bangor.

Jonjo O’Neill’s eight-year-old stayed upwardly mobile with a decisive defeat of Mille Sussurri over 2m 6f at Bangor, scoring with plenty in hand, so he can shrug off a 5lb hike back over three miles.

The thriving Jackdaws Castle handler should also strike at Catterick with ANYHARMINASKING (3.40).

The four-year-old improved again over hurdles when a good second to Risk D’argent at Uttoxeter so this pacy type can take advantage of a nice opening mark.

NO CRUISE YET (1.40) is set to claim a competitive novices’ handicap chase for skilled Sam England.

The seven-year-old was unlucky to encounter the progressive Representing

Bob over course and distance but looks unexposed for his current yard so can gain compensation on his return.

Dr Richard Newland is hitting form so I’m backing ART OF DIPLOMACY (3.10) in the three-miler after he improved again for his new handler when second to Gazette Bourgeoise at Hereford.

That was a decent contest so he can resume winning ways in a slightly weaker event.

KAAFY (2.20) looks red hot for skilled handler Grant Tuer on the all-weather at Newcastle. The speedster can defy a well-earned 2lb hike for chinning Aces when last seen at Wolverhampton.

Michael Appleby remains in terrific form so I’m backing MAWKEB (4.50) in the lucky last as he will be primed after his narrow loss to Old News on his yard debut over track and trip.

CAPTAIN ST LUCIFER (6.30) can extend Ivan Furtado’s winning streak at Chelmsford tonight. The five-year-old returned to form when comfortably denying Roby Mill over course and distance and still lurks on an attractive mark so can follow up under the excellent Kieran O’Neill.

GOOD HUMOR (7.0) is no joke on debut for ultra-shrewd Stuart Williams in the IJF Handicap. The five-year-old outbattled the in-form Shoot To Kill at Kempton on his last start for Roger Varian so can account for a reasonable field.
