VOS WAS RON BALLWITHGIO
DAVE VOS has revealed how Ronald de Boer convinced him to go double Dutch with Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox.
The former Ajax youth chief signed up to become assistant boss after being sold on the move by the former Gers star.
Vos said: “I was a youth coach for a long time and I wanted to make the step towards the first team.
“I spoke with Giovanni a couple of times and felt immediately the right connection. We share the same philosophy about how we want to play, how we want to develop the team. At the moment when he asked me, it was a very simple choice.
“One of my assistant coaches at Ajax was Ronald de Boer so I asked him a lot of questions about the club and he was so enthusiastic about his time here, the fans, the environment, the people, the city.
“All of those things come together and from there I made the decision.”
It’s been a flawless start so far for van Bronckhorst and his backroom team with eight wins and a draw since they took over.
But they will be under pressure to keep that run up and protect their sixpoint Premiership lead when they return to action against Aberdeen on Tuesday.
Vos, though, is used to operating with the heat on. He said: The pressure… it sounds crazy but Ajax is a big club and they have the same kind of pressure.
“Rangers, every game they play they play against an opponent where that is the game of the year. That is a little bit of the same pressure.
“So far I have really liked the environment and liked the pressure also. That is a good thing, the pressure.”
