The cool dance show is back with a new of celebrities set to brave blades, bumps
As a fresh batch of stars take to the ice, presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will, as ever, be on hand to cheer them on.
And viewers will see a new side to their favourite celebs – not only when they reveal their backsides after falling over in front of judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse and Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Here, Holly and Phil tell us about Dancing On Ice’s class of 2022 and whether we’ll ever see either of them wearing skates…
What can viewers expect?
Phil: It’s no secret we struggled to get the show on air last year but we’re back, we are confident and the line-up is amazing. Holly: I can’t wait. We’re looking forward to getting back to the side of the rink and having a bit of glamour. What do you think of the new judging line-up? Phil: Amazing. I adore John [Barrowman] and we’ll miss that larger-than-life personality but in every panel, you want to make sure each area is serviced. So now we’ve got Ashley, with his overall understanding of showbiz and the difficulty of moves, Jayne and Chris, who have iceskating sewn up, and Oti, who knows exactly what’s required. Holly: Oti is going to be fantastic. I’m a huge fan. I think she’s got a wonderful energy and will bring that to the ice. What advice would you give her? Holly: I honestly don’t think she needs advice. She’s one of those people who, whatever she turns her hand to, she excels at. We know she’s a brilliant teacher and always gives really good guidance. Are there times when you watch through your fingers? Phil: Holly more so than me but I think at least one of us should be watching. Holly doesn’t like the headbangers [ice-dancing spin lift] – she absolutely hates them. But I’m the sort of person who loves a roller-coaster.
