If an oxygen facial is good enough for Posh and Kim K..

Cutting edge treatment beloved by some of the world’s biggest stars is finally in Scotland, so writer SAMANTHA CROAL popped into The Aesthetics Club for some pampering a to find out exactly what all the fuss is about

SMOOTH, plump, glowing skin? It’s at the top of everyone’s list when it comes to boosting your complexion.

The Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial is a revolutionary new treatment that has landed in Scotland and is beloved by the Hollywood elite including Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian and Olivia Colman during the filming of The Crown.

I visited The Aesthetics Club, in Bearsden, near Glasgow, to find out if this new facial treatment would leave me Met Gala ready.

What is an oxygen facial?

Fiona Grant, the founder of The Aesthetics Club, says the Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial uses hyperbaric oxygen to promote the delivery of tailored professional strength serums deep into the skin.

Pressurised oxygen is sprayed on the epidermis, pushing products deeper into the skin than possible with topical application, which leads to a plump and smooth appearance.

The oxygen application supports collagen production and boosts circulation leading to cell regeneration – giving you a youthful glow.

Regular treatments can also help acne, rosacea and the appearance of wrinkles.

How does it work?

I sat down with skin specialist Kerri for an in-depth consultation before she selected tailored products for my facial. My consultation had shown I was prone to break-outs and my skin was unusually dry due to a change in weather.

The Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial is a soothing treatment and begins with a relaxing head and neck massage.

Kerri started by giving my skin a deep cleanse to remove any make-up residue and SPF, followed by a gentle exfoliation to take away impurities.

Kerri applied a tailored mix of professional serums containing vitamins and antioxidants to hydrate my skin. The serums were left to sink in before the oxygen was applied.

Delivered by a state of the art handheld machine, streams of pressurised air were blasted in sections across my face.

The air was cold but not painful and I could really feel the products working – we had to reapply hyaluronic acid twice because my skin was drinking the serum up.

After the hour-long treatment finished, extra serums were applied and left to soak in for an added glow.

What are the results and how long does it last?

Straight after treatment my skin was quite red but it looked clean, hydrated and had a glass-like sheen to it.

The following day my complexion was brighter, my pores were smaller and I definitely had an overnight glow-up.

I couldn’t believe how healthy I looked – I will be back for further pain-free treatments in the future.

There is no down time with this treatment, so it is recommended for weddings and big events. Results usually last around a week.

It is suitable for almost every skin type and one of the few facials suitable for pregnant women.

Prices

The Oxygen Facial starts from £95 and regular treatments are advised to keep on top of skin health. For more information or to book see theaestheticsclub.co.uk
