RANGERS MAN BY MAN
JON McLAUGHLIN 7
Given the nod over Allan McGregor and didn’t face one shot on target, with Simms’ effort hitting a post Hearts’ only attempt. Showed steady hands coming for crosses.
JAMES TAVERNIER 6
Seemed nervous to start and caught looking the other way as Simms hit the woodwork. Lucky not to pick up a first-half booking for a string of fouls. Settled as Gers took control.
CONNOR GOLDSON 7
If this was his last game for the club, it was a fitting way to sign off. The Englishman has been a rock for this team and he put in a solid showing complete with crucial blocks.
LEON BALOGUN 7
Tasked with dealing with Simms and coped well. Wasn’t scared to drive the ball into midfield. Thought he’d won it late on as his header skimmed Gordon’s bar.
CALVIN BASSEY 9
Another man-of-the-match showing from the top performer against Frankfurt. Hearts couldn’t handle his physicality at the back or his rampaging runs forward.
JOHN LUNDSTRAM 8
Failed to hit his recent lofty heights in the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium and was quiet for the first 45 minutes. But he found the energy Rangers required for extra-time.
STEVEN DAVIS 7
At 37, he doesn’t cover as much ground now but proved class is permanent with lovely passes for Arfield and Aribo. Worth another year’s contract for his experience alone.
AMAD DIALLO 6
Surprise start for the on-loan Manchester United kid. Bright at times and put in a shift. But moments like his horrid headed miss make you question his £20million price tag.
SCOTT ARFIELD 6
Brought back into starting XI in the wake of Wednesday’s energy-sapping efforts. Worked his socks off but didn’t have the power to beat Gordon with first-half effort.
RYAN KENT 7
Seemed determined to make amends for that devastating late miss in Seville. Never stopped running and produced perfectly weighted assist for Wright’s clincher.
JOE ARIBO 7
Denied injury-time glory by Gordon’s big toe. Still looks uncomfortable playing with his back to goal, so will be delighted he can return to his midfield slot next season.
