SMART VIEWER

IF YOU have an Android phone in your pocket, it’s probably powered by Qualcomm. The US tech giant makes some of the fastest processors in the business and now the company is eyeing up wearable tech for your face.

Its Wireless AR Smart Viewer has just been revealed and it packs premium performanc­e in a slimmeddow­n design. These glasses feature wi-fi and Bluetooth plus speedy OLED displays to make sure everything you watch looks pin-sharp and silky smooth.

There are also in-built cameras and head tracking to bring mixed-reality content to consumers. Qualcomm’s specs are just a prototype right now but it’s working with

other partners to bring them to stores, so expect more

news soon.

GOOGLE SPECS

NEXT time you head on holiday you might want to pack Google’s latest invention in your bag.

The firm’s glasses have some impressive tech tucked inside that can translate speech in real-time. That means when someone talks to you in a foreign language, text will instantly appear in front of your eyes so you can understand exactly what’s going on.

There’s no word on a release date yet but, when they do arrive, they’ll help when ordering beers at the bar on hols.

APPLE GLASSES

RUMOURS are rife that Apple could be about to unveil some gadget goggles. It’s thought the tech giant is developing connected specs that will show notificati­ons, directions and let you surf the web without having to reach for your iPhone. It’s likely they will be powered by Siri, with wearers simply asking this personal assistant to reply to messages and check their daily emails. Apple remains tight-lipped about its future products but some experts are already starting to speculate that they will be revealed over the next 12 months. Watch this space!

PS VR2

PLAYSTATIO­N is no stranger to VR, with the gaming giant already launching its original headset.

However, this will soon be superseded by something much better thanks to the upcoming launch of the PS VR2.

This mask features improved graphics thanks to 4K HDR and should feel far more immersive, with subtle vibrations mimicking the game you’re playing.

Sony has made its VR2 comfier to wear, and it will arrive with improved controller­s which feature an orb design for a more realistic, natural gaming experience.

The PlayStatio­n VR2 is expected to arrive later this year.
