Khloe is a real bright spark with a haul of trophies which amazes her teachers
A PINT-SIZED petrolhead is racking up an impressive haul of trophies in her pink go-kart.
Khloe McGill first attended a motorsports event as a baby and has visited Bahrain and Dubai. The six- year- old girl racer is leading the Super One British championship in her category of six to eightyears-olds, and is often the only female competing. Two years ago, Santa gave Khloe a pink C50 petrolfuelled go-kart which can reach speeds of up to 45mph, which she named Champion. Khloe, from Bo’ness, has also competed down south – and has big ambitions. Her dad Steve has been a racing driver for nearly 20 years and Khloe, who is now in P2, was allowed to sit in the driver’s seat of his car from a young age.
Khloe said: “I want to be a Formula 1 driver and the first girl to race Lewis Hamilton or drive the police cars on the motorway.
“My daddy is my hero, I used to always go to his racing with my T-shirt on and cheer him on to win with my mummy and grandad.
“I always said to my mummy ‘I want to race like my daddy’. He can fix my go-kart, and mummy helps change my tyres.
“I like Lewis Hamilton because he raced karts but not sure he will win this year.”
Khloe trains once a week on weekdays, or at weekends if her parents are working.
She said: “I feel nervous sometimes but excited too.
“I say to myself ‘I am going to win for my family’. “Winning makes me happy. “I tap my go-kart and say ‘well done’ to her after we win.”
She said her teachers are taken aback by her success.
Khloe added: “Some don’t think I actually race and just buy trophies from the shops.”
Care salesman dad Steve said: “Even when she was really young she would sit behind the wheel of a car and want to start it up.
“We had to wait a few months until she turned six in April 2021 before she could begin racing but straight away she was brilliant.
“She’s already been all over the country racing, including in Teeside where she won the championship, and London.
“The category is for six to eightyear-olds so some of those taking part are a good bit older than her.
“But she still manages to finish first and often breaks lap records into the bargain.
“She’s definitely got more trophies than I ever had.”
