Brooks left LIVid over disrespect for Open

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

BRASSED-OFF Brooks Koepka took the hump at getting asked about the LIV Golf controversy – after his brother and biggest rival jumped on board.

The four-time Major winner got angry with media at Brookline ahead of the US Open after being grilled on his thoughts about the civil war wrecking havoc in the game.

Koepka’s younger brother Chase took part in the LIV Golf opener last week while arch enemy Bryson DeChambeau is the latest star to sign up.

But world No.19 Koepka sniped: “I don’t understand. I’m trying to focus on the US Open, man. I legitimately don’t get it. I’m tired of the conversations. I’m tired of all this stuff.

“Y’all are throwing a black cloud on the US Open. I think that sucks. We’re here to play and you are talking about an event that happened last week.

“You are all throwing this black cloud over the US Open.

“I don’t know why you guys keep doing that.

“The more legs you give it, the more you keep talking about it.”

Koepka, right, has remained tightlipped about his own intentions and the possibility of following his brother.

He said: “I love my brother. I support him in anything he does. It’s family. I’m cheering for him.

“I haven’t talked to him. I watched a little bit of it. I haven’t given it that much thought.”

The honeymoon is over for Koepka as he looks to get back to business following his wedding to actress Jena Sims earlier this month.

The 32-year-old has only played in the Masters and US PGA since March but insisted he’s ready to compete.

He added: “The wedding was a big thing, now it’s over with and I can go and play golf.

“I can take time off and still come back and win.”
