MY WEEKEND

I love going out on a Friday night because it marks the start of the weekend. That’s also the moment where the adrenaline is still high. You’re either knackered or still have a lot on your mind, and to go out and have a glass of prosecco to decompress is amazing.
When I’m up north filming with my mum [presenter Mavis Ackerley], we pop to a wine bar in my hometown of Alderley Edge. Everyone in the
area knows one another. We all share a bottle of rosé and chat about our week.
If I am in London with Ben, we put a meatball ragu in the slow cooker, then head out to The Good Wine Shop and have our dinner when we get home in front of the telly. This is when we catch up with our Netflix shows too – at the moment it’s Ten Percent and The Lincoln Lawyer that we’re into.
On a Saturday, we get up early and start the day with a stroll through London. As we live close to a river path, we can walk for hours. I’ve had some of my best ideas on walks.
Ben and I tend to go out for dinner on Saturday night in central London, or we’ll head out to see friends. My brother and sister-in-law had a baby over Christmas so we’ll often visit them and stay the night to spend some extra time together.
When Sunday rolls around, we start the day with a lie-in, have tea and some toast, then take it easy. We’ll cook a roast or go somewhere for our tea.
On Sunday nights I like to be organised for work. I need to know on a Monday morning that everything is set. Then, at the end of the day, what I really enjoy is a bath. I’ll maybe have my laptop there, so I’ll turn the lights off and watch something, or just do a bit of mindfulness and meditation.
