Woman tells of vile torrent of Islamophobic abuse
SICKENING footage has captured the moment a woman was targeted with racist abuse.
Victim Tylesha was tormented by a gang of youths who made vile slurs towards her and her friends.
The group were wearing abayas, – a long-sleeved, floor-length garment often worn by Muslim women.
One of the women started filming as two girls and one boy approached her and launched into the disturbing attack in Glasgow Green on Saturday.
A girl wearing a blue dress with blonde hair can be heard saying: “Are you going to hit me with your bomb?” Another with long-brown hair and a grey hoodie adds: “Go back home, you Isis b***h”.
She then appears to be gleefully filming the racist attack.
The girls also call the woman an “Isis b ***** d” and another slur.
One male in the group says, “Please bomb me”, and mimics an Asian accent, saying, “You ... stupid”.
The woman wrote on Instagram: “Racially attacked by horrible girls in Glasgow Green yesterday – they started shouting when my friends and I were walking past.
“They began to make Islamophobic remarks toward my friends wearing abayas. Absolutely disappointed.” The victim later said that the second girl did not take part in the abuse and apologised for her friends’ behaviour.
Many have been left outraged by the scenes in the footage which has been viewed 300,000 times.
Mia Barrera said: “They are simply projecting their own self-hate on to you and it’s grim to watch, let alone be on the receiving end of it. I’m sorry this happened and I hope you can disregard their disgusting remarks, beautiful girl.”
Holly Lambton said: “That’s so vile.”
Police said they did not have a record of the incident.
